CA(R)NE – THIS IS OUR CITY
Interdisciplinary creative project by Calin Dan that involves inmates from the Colibasi Maximum Security Penitentiary.
Objectives:
• To realize an interdisciplinary performance using presence & movement on stage, original music, set & costumes, video & animation screenings etc.
• To take the inmates through a process of self knowledge, and self evaluation by means of artistic participation.
• to draw the attention of the artistic community on this kind of artistic intervention aimed at facilitating the social reinsertion of inmates
Argument
CA(R)NE – THIS IS OUR CITY aims to value the experience of the department for social re-insertion of the Colibasi penitentiary in the creation of a musical performance casting inmates and involving them in the creative process
The structure combines the writing of an original text, sound design, set and costumes design, theatrical interpretation of the text, singing and stage performance.
It is a project addressing both the penitentiary correctional system and the artistic community while working as well as an autonomous artistic project. It is a performance but also a social re-insertion training by means of artistic involvement aimed at generating a possible model of action
Results
- setting a model of action for the personnel and the inmates from Colibasi
- bringing international funding for supporting the social re-insertion activities in a Romanian penitentiary;
- creating an autonomous performative project and a unique artistic experience for the theater audience. |
