The seminars represent the first stage of Visual Eurobarometer project. The artists are thus offered the opportunity to have access to various points of view on ‘NEIGHBOURHOOD’ expressed by philosophers, journalists, sociologists, political annalists, anthropologists, cultural managers etc.
Organized simultaneously in Bucharest, Cluj, Iasi and Timisoara, the seminars are aimed at providing a basis for better understanding of the theme. They are also meant to enable the artists to base their creative proposals on a solid theoretical framework and also to enrich and consolidate their personal set of social values.
Designed on a common structure these meetings invite artist in four major cities to reflect and debate issues analyzing the structure of contemporary Romanian society. They also question the ways in which the individual may get involved in defining social strategies, urban regeneration projects, community spirit etc. It is also an invitation to dialogue with correspondents outside the professional circle.
Participation in this stage is compulsory for artists in order to apply with projects. The two seminars organized on March 17 and 25, were coordinated by: Ionut Cioana (Bucharest), Rarita Szakats (Cluj Napoca), Sorana Lupu (Iasi), Corina Raceanu (Timisoara).
